Course Approvals

ALL Community Education courses are nationally approved and have successfully satisfied the NAB requirements for
continuing education.

All long term care administrators, such as assisted living managers and nursing home administrators can receive NAB approved continuing education. There are two states that do not automatically accept NAB approval: Kansas and Missouri.

All educational offerings have been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.

Requirements for Vermont

Residential Care Homes
Assisted Living Facilities
Administrators must complete 20 hours of continuing education per year in courses related to assisted living principles and the philosophy and care of the elderly and disabled individuals. All personal care services staff must receive 24 hours of continuing education in courses related to Alzheimer’s disease, medication management, documentation, transfers, infection control, toileting, bathing, etc.

Nursing Home Facilities
Every holder of a nursing home administrator's license shall renew it biennially, by making application to the board. The board may by rule require that a license holder complete not more than 40 hours of approved instruction every two years as a condition of renewal.
