Course Approvals

ALL Community Education courses are nationally approved and have successfully satisfied the NAB requirements for
continuing education.

All long term care administrators, such as assisted living managers and nursing home administrators can receive NAB approved continuing education. There are two states that do not automatically accept NAB approval: Kansas and Missouri.

All educational offerings have been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.

Requirements for Georgia

Personal Care Homes
All persons, including the administrator or on-site manager, who offer direct care to the residents, must satisfactorily complete a total of at least sixteen (16) hours of continuing education each year, in applicable courses approved by the Department, including, but not limited to working with the elderly, working with residents with Alzheimer's or other cognitive impairments, working with the mentally retarded, mentally ill and developmentally disabled, social and recreational activities, legal issues, physical maintenance and fire safety, housekeeping, or other topics as needed or as determined by the Department.

Nursing Home Facilities
Forty clock hours of continuing education are required biennially to renew a license. A maximum of six clock hours may be in independent study. National Continuing Education Review Services (N.C.E.R.S.) of the National Association of Boards of Nursing Home Administrators (NAB). Continuing education hours may be obtained by participating in programs approved by N.C.E.R.S.
