Course Approvals

ALL Community Education courses are nationally approved and have successfully satisfied the NAB requirements for
continuing education.

All long term care administrators, such as assisted living managers and nursing home administrators can receive NAB approved continuing education. There are two states that do not automatically accept NAB approval: Kansas and Missouri.

All educational offerings have been reviewed by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.

Continuing Education
Requirements for Alabama

Assisted Living Facilities
Contain a minimum of twelve (12) equivalent hours of continuing education per year for licensees issued a Category I Assisted Living Administrator license. Contain an additional six (6) equivalent hours of continuing education per year for licensees issued a Category II Assisted Living Administrator license. These six (6) additional hours shall be on educational programs approved by the Board that pertain to cognitive impairment and/or dementia care. Continuing education hours above and beyond the required equivalent hours shall not carry over to the next renewal period.

Nursing Home Facilities
Contain a minimum of 24 equivalent hours of academic work per year.
